Hamburg Disculptures is a series of dystopian representations of Hamburg. Each image begins as a Polaroid photograph, capturing fragments of the city before being transformed through the process of emulsion lifting.
The Polaroids are soaked in water, allowing the photographic emulsion to separate from its original plastic support. The fragile image layer is then transferred onto a new surface — in this series, either watercolor paper or terracotta tiles — creating unique objects that exist somewhere between photography, painting, and sculpture.
Through this process of alteration and displacement, familiar urban landscapes become distorted, dreamlike, and detached from their original reality. The material transformation of the photograph becomes part of the interpretation of the city itself.
